Our Journey – The Beginning of a Dream
In 2019, long before TVPalm Ecolodge welcomed its first guests, a small group of us began walking the slopes of Tây Côn Lĩnh with young saplings in our arms.
We did not come to teach or to judge. We came with quiet understanding. For generations, our Dao and Tày brothers and sisters had relied on the forest for firewood and timber simply to survive. Instead of asking them to stop, we offered them a gentler choice — a different way to live.
Tree by tree, conversation by conversation, we planted not only saplings but also hope. We gave away thousands of native trees for free and gently encouraged families to let the wounded forest rest and heal. Slowly, patiently, we helped them see that protecting the mountain did not mean losing their livelihood. Through respectful tourism, through growing organic vegetables together, and through guiding mindful travellers, they could build a more stable and dignified life while allowing the forest to breathe again.
That gentle work continues to this day. Where bare slopes once stood, young trees now reach toward the sky. The forest is slowly recovering — not because of us alone, but because the local communities chose to walk this path with us.
A small Act that carries deep Meaning
When you arrive at TVPalm Ecolodge, you will never need to buy a bottle of water.
From the very beginning, we made a quiet promise: every drop of drinking and utility water at the lodge is a gift from a pure mountain waterfall at 1,250 metres elevation. It is carefully filtered and offered to every guest completely free of charge. We also provide reusable metal bottles for all tours.
To many, this may seem like a small gesture. But for us, it carries a profound message:
Nature gives us this clear, precious water freely. Our role is simply to receive it with gratitude and pass it on with respect. We hope that every guest who drinks this water will feel the gentle invitation: Receive from nature, and give back what is good.
We believe TVPalm Ecolodge is among the very first — and currently the only — accommodation in Vietnam that has fully committed to this practice: providing 100% free purified mountain water while completely eliminating single-use plastic bottles. It is a small step, yet one we take with great love and consistency every single day.
Our Standard, Our Promise
This is the heart of TVPalm: we do not wait for perfect conditions. We begin with small, sincere actions and remain steadfast even when no one is watching. We plant trees in harsh weather. We refuse plastic when it would be easier to accept it. We support local families year after year so they no longer need to harm the forest to survive.
We do these things not for recognition, but because we deeply believe that tourism should heal rather than wound, give rather than take, and leave both the land and its people richer than before.
We still have much to learn. Every day, we listen to our guests, to the land, and to the wisdom of the local communities. We remain humble students on this journey.
If you choose to stay or travel with us, you become part of this quiet, persistent story. Together, we help the forest rest and regenerate. Together, we show that a more respectful way of travelling is possible.
Setting the standard, naturally.
