Much of what is on the table was picked here, because about 80% of our food goes from garden to table. After breakfast nothing is required of you.<\/p>\n<p>Mornings are for walking. Go down through the village, follow the path to the stream, or take a longer route with a guide. Back at the lodge, the pool is open from 07:00 to 19:00. It is fed by a spring at 1,250 m and uses no chlorine or chemicals.<\/p>\n<p>Lunch is from 12:00 to 13:30. The afternoon is for reading in the stilt house, sitting in the garden, or working. Dinner is from 19:00 to 21:00 in the restaurant, by the fire when it is cold. The menu follows the season and uses local food: black pig, village chicken, river fish and wild greens.<\/p>\n<p>Quiet hours begin at 22:00. Some days you will take a long walk or ride. Most days you will not. That is the point.<\/p>\n<h3>One way to spend a week<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Days 1 and 2.<\/strong> Do very little. Walk to the village and back. Learn where the afternoon light falls.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Days 3 to 5.<\/strong> Choose one outing: the tea hills of Na Thac, Lung Vai weir and waterfall, or a longer day walk. Come back to the pool and dinner.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Days 6 and 7.<\/strong> Work in the morning if you need to. Spend the afternoon in the garden. Ask the kitchen what is in season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tvp-note\">This is a suggestion, not a programme. The Wi-Fi is good in the bar, the restaurant, the stilt house and in most rooms. A few rooms deepest inside the property are weaker, and we are upgrading the network. Tell us when you book that you work online, and we will give you the best room for it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>A few things that help:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mobile signal: Viettel is very stable at the lodge. Vinaphone and Mobifone are weaker. A Viettel SIM or eSIM is a good backup for calls.<\/li>\n<li>Time: Vietnam is 5 to 6 hours ahead of central Europe, depending on the season. A morning call in Europe is your afternoon here. A late-evening call from the US is your morning.<\/li>\n<li>Power: 220 V. Round and flat plugs both fit our sockets.<\/li>\n<li>Quiet: the bar plays no loud music, and quiet hours run from 22:00 to 06:00.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"tvp-note\">We do not quote a speed in megabits. Not everyone had worked in tourism before. We train step by step instead of hiring people from elsewhere, so service can be slower than you are used to.<\/p>\n<p>Each month local workers look after the gardens, and local villagers supply food under clear agreements. We are building the Tay Con Linh Sustainable Tourism Cooperative with 50 Dao members, which supports homestays in the village and the planting of precious timber trees.<\/p>\n<p>We run regular training for young local people in sustainable tourism and foreign languages. Eight rooms have a private bathroom just outside the room, with its own key, never shared. The two Deluxe Family rooms have a bathroom inside. The Twin and Deluxe Family rooms are on the ground floor, with no stairs.
